Tel Aviv, Israel – July 19, 2022 - PolandPassport.com, the leading worldwide Polish citizenship and European Union (EU) passport advocacy agency for those with Polish descent, is proud to announce that, Harry Kaplan, the son of founder, Neil Kaplan, Head of Delegation for the Polish Maccabi Team, won silver and bronze medals in the fencing competitions at the 2022 Maccabiah Games held in Israel. With this accomplishment, Harry becomes the first Polish athlete in Maccabiah history to garner multiple medals during a single Games.

Competing in multiple disciplines, Harry garnered second place in the team Epee event and third in the Sabre team event.  Although the only fencer from Poland, Harry was part of an international team that finished on the podium in both of these events. Harry will be entering Stanford University in the fall as a freshman.

Radek Pintara, another Polish athlete at the Games, won a bronze medal in Judo earlier in the event.

Speaking about Harry Kaplan’s accomplishment, Head of Delegation, Neil Kaplan said, “Representing Poland with my son, Harry, at these Games and, on behalf of Team Poland, is an honor and we are thrilled with Harry’s achievements.  Harry has raised the bar on both sportsmanship and success and I hope his actions at these games will be an inspiration for future young Polish Jewish athletes. We will remember these days for a lifetime.”

Harry Kaplan said, “Competing on behalf of the Polish Jewish community had been an honor for me. Even more exciting for me is to share this great success with my Dad. I am proud to continue my family’s legacy in Maccabiah fencing.”

Harry Kaplan’s sister Julie was previously the only fencing medalist in Polish Maccabiah games history (bronze, 2017).

The Maccabi Games are held every four years and began in 1932. Delegations from around the world send their best Jewish sportsmen and women to the competition.
